Having Chaired the initial fundraising campaign of 2007 that made the purpose-built facility at Cobham Drive possible, John is immensely proud of the amazing journey Hospice Waikato has travelled so far.

John is a larger than life, energetic character, who had careers in hospitality and financial services before co-founding NZ Home Loans in 1996. Since selling out to Kiwibank in 2012, John has gone on to build a varied portfolio of businesses in the tourism, franchising and IT sectors, all of which he still works actively in today.  

In 2013, John and Christine, purchased Kinross, a boutique winery in Gibbston Valley, Queenstown, which they have transformed into a modern and attractive Cellar door, Bistro and Accommodation business.

Along with being Chairman of the Waikato Hospice Foundation Trust since its inception in 2010, John also holds several other governance roles.
