Future Management & Future Needs
An aging population growth is significantly increasing the demands being placed at all levels of Hospice Waikato's specialist palliative care services.
While the team at Hospice Waikato concentrates its fundraising efforts on its operational requirements, the role of the Hospice Waikato Foundation is to focus on future-proofing the organisation for tomorrow’s needs.
The investment objective of the Hospice Waikato Foundation is to generate sufficient income to assist funding for the running of the Hospice, meet the cost of maintenance on the Hospice’s buildings, to help finance any building development and to provide a contingency reserve.

The Master Plan - Our Future
Waikato is rapidly growing, diversifying and aging.
Medical advances which will mean people will live for longer and palliative healthcare will need to change accordingly (longer duration of care).
1 in 3 people will require hospice care
The average age of these people is expected to be 85, meaning more people will spend longer in care. This will increase the number of people requiring care.

The number of people dying in the Waikato region in 2037 is forecast to increase by 50%.
Waikato is expected to have nearly twice as many deaths in the next 20 years as in the past 20 years.
This equates to the provision of palliative care and whanau support to over 1400 patients and their families each year.
This means we will need Over 100 nurses and 12 doctors by 2037.
Quite simply, we need your help.
