Koowhai House

The home was purchased by the Hospice Waikato and the Foundation as we share the vision of providing wraparound care for not only for patients, but for their families and whānau too.

In the past, we have had the Koowhai Room (a motel unit style accommodation for up to five people), but with the purchase of Koowhai House it enables a greater number of people to stay on site, with the ability to self-cater and with space for children to play safely.

We understand how important it is for families to be together at end-of-life, and Koowhai House will allow this to happen for many of our rural families.

It is purely because of people choosing to leave a gift in their Wills that has made Koowhai House a reality.

The purchase of a property adjoining the Hospice Waikato Cobham Drive site has allowed for the development of Koowhai House, an established four-bedroom home, which will provide an accommodation option for families from out of town who have a loved-one staying in our Inpatient Unit.
